Puri, July 4: Rath Yatra, the annual sojourn of Lord Jagannath and his siblings Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra concluded on Saturday as the sibling deities were ushered to the sanctum sanctorum during the ‘Niladri Bije’ ritual.
Lord Jagannath and Goddess Mahalaxmi’s meeting ritual was also carried out at entrance of the temple.
On July 2, auspicious ritual ‘Suna Besha’ of Lord Jagannath and his siblings—Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra–has been observed at holy shrine Puri, strictly adhering COVID-19 guidelines.
Elaborate arrangements were made by Shree Jagannath Temple Administration and Puri district administration for the purpose.
Bahuda Yatra, the homecoming festival of Lord Jagannath and his siblings, was conducted smoothly here on Wednesday.
This year, each chariot was pulled by not more than 500 persons, including policemen and servitors.
Each of those 500 persons was tested for the Coronavirus. They were permitted to pull the chariot after tested negative. The number 500 includes officials and police personnel.
