Bhubaneswar, Jan 21: Tension sparked off here at Ramadevi Women’s University as Plus II students staged protest demanding rollback of the compulsory pass criteria of minimum 33 percent marks in the first year.

The students of Ramadevi Women’s (Junior) College that functions inside the varsity’s campus locked the main gate and burnt tyre to press their demand to rollback the decision.

The state government on Monday took the decision making it compulsory for Plus II students to secure at least 33 percent marks in the first year examination.

The state government should have announced the decision at the beginning of the academic session. It is announcing it just a month before the annual examination, the protesting students claimed.
