Chennai, Jan 21: Superstar Rajnikanth on Tuesday refused to apologise for his comments on social reformer EV Ramasamy Periyar. A political group has filed a police complaint against the superstar accusing him of defaming Periyar. However, Rajnikanth said his comments were based on news reports he had read and he will not apologise for his statement. Notably, addressing the 50th anniversary event of Tamil magazine Thuglak on January 14, Rajnikanth had said: “In 1971, at Salem, Periyar took out a rally against superstition in which naked images of Lord Ramachandramoorthy and Sita were displayed and no media house published it except Cho Ramaswamy, the founder editor of Thuglak, who published and criticized it.
