Bhubaneswar: Rains would continue to occur in northern and southern Odisha in coming 24 hours by the impact of low pressure formed in the Bay of Bengal.
The weather office has also predicted that rains to occur intensely in interior and western Odisha after today evening. The rains have also caused of swelling of many rivers.
In Cuttack district, schools and colleges have been declared closed for today due to rains. It is reported that rainwater has inundated many low-lying areas in the district. The situation in the millennium city has also remained alarming.
The capital city has witnessed waterlogging at different places like Acharya Vihar, Jayadev Vihar and Rasulgarh due to incessant rains. Vehicular movement has been disrupted in Acharya Vihar area. Students have faced difficulties in moving to schools and colleges.
Similarly, people in pilgrimage town of Puri have faced difficulties as drains are overflowing across the town. Many villages in the district have also been inundated.
The weather office has warned fishermen not to venture into the sea.
