Jeypore: Congress president Rahul Gandhi today promised to hike allowance for widows to Rs 2000, if voted to power in Odisha.

“Odisha is the poorest State despite abundance of resources. Everything is being looted here. If Congress comes to power, it will waive off farm loans, provide marriage kit to women, and hike allowance for widows to Rs 2,000,” said Rahul addressing a public meeting here.

He also came down heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik over a slew of issues.

Targeting the Prime Minister over Rafale deal, the AICC chief said though HAL is manufacturing fighter planes for many years but Modi has given Rs 30,000 crore to Ambani who doesn’t even have any experience in fighter plane manufacturing.

He also called for a change in Odisha and also in the country in the ensuing elections.

Prior to the public rally, the Congress president also interacted with women at the Town Hall here on the occasion of Women’s Day and stressed on security of women.

“If our party comes to power in #Odisha, women will get social security,”
