Rahul Gandhi woos farmers, lambasts Modi, Naveen in Bargarh

Bhubaneswar: Attracting farmers towards his party, Congress president Rahul Gandhi today promised waiver of farm loan, Rs 2500 paddy MSP and installation of food processing units in every district.

Addressing a massive rally in Bargarh, Gandhi said the Congress never believes in words but works. “You can examine my speech what I made in Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. We fulfilled all the promises soon after we formed the government in these States. Narendra Modi and Naveen Patnaik can waive off the crores of loan of industrialists, but not the farmers. We always translates our promises into reality”, Rahul said.

“Bargarh was once considered as the rice bowl of Odisha. But, now-a-days, farmers are committing suicide every other day. But why?, he asked.

The Congress president also alleged that Modi and Naveen both are busy making privatisation health care and education system.

The prime minister repeatedly tried to revoke the Land Acquisition Bill in Parliament so that they can snatch the forcefully from the farmers and give to corporate friends as gifts. But, Congress opposed the bill vehemently for the greater interest of the farmers. “It is your land. Nobody can take it away from you without your consent. If the government wants to take it, it has to pay four times the market price. If the land is not used for any project within five years, it would be returned to the farmers again”, Rahul said, giving the example of Tata company in Chhattisgarh.

He also targeted Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for allegedly creating more unemployment in the State. Only some bureaucrats are running the government here. Voice of poor and tribal is being suppressed. But we want to run a government of the common people”, he added.

Gandhi also came down heavily on Narendra Modi over Rafale deal that was made with Anil Ambani instead of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).

Naveen is being remote controlled by Narendra Modi. Firing a fresh salvo at Naveen Patnaik, the Congress scion said Rs 5,000 crore of common people were looted in Odisha in chit fund scam while it is 50,000 crore in mining scam. But, there is no action taken by the government yet. “I promised Congress will initiate action if voted to power”, he added.

Raking up the issue of unemployment and alleging Modi and Patnaik government’s failure in this regard, the Congress president asked the crowd whether there is any youth, who has been granted a job by Modi or Patnaik.

“You don’t have to go out of the state to get jobs, the Congress party will get you jobs here by the filling the vacant govt job posts in the state,” said Rahul Gandhi.

Naveen has breached his promise to set up cold storages and food processing units, but “if our party comes to power, we will set up the plant in every district, Gandhi maintained.
