Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday announced Rs 2 lakh as compensation to family of each of five persons, who died in a road mishap on the Jagannath Sadak in Puri district this morning.
Notably, five persons died and two others sustained critical injuries as a Bolero van, in which they were travelling, fell off a canal at Sukal Bhailipur on the Jagannath Sadak. They along with others from Ganjam district’s Patrapur area were going to Puri for “Asthi Bisarjan” (bone emersion) in the sea.
The deceased included two children, two men and one woman. The injured have been admitted to a local hospital.
