Bolangir: Punjilal Meher, the prime accused in the parcel bomb case of Patnagarh that killed newly-wed Soumya Sekhar Sahu and his grandmother, who was shifted to the Bolangir District Jail on Friday, resorted to hunger strike alleging that he was being victimised.
Punjilal was shifted to the district jail after he was accused of masterminding a failed jailbreak attempt at the Patnagarh Sub-Jail.
On Friday, after arriving at the Bolangir District Jail, Punjilal alleged that he was tortured mentally and physically by the authorities at the Patnagarh Sub-Jail and denied the allegations. He also demanded scrutiny of the CCTV footages in Patnagarh Sub-Jail to find out the truth.
He alleged that massive corruption is ruling the roost at the sub-jail.
Punjilal was arrested on April 25 last year by the Crime Branch for planning and executing the parcel bomb blast. He held a grudge against Soumya’s mother as she was promoted to the Principal’s post at the Jyoti Vikash College where he was working as an English lecturer.
