Provide financial, transport aid to migrants: BWI

New Delhi, May 30: A joint meeting of Building Construction Forest and Wood Workers International (BWI) Federation comprising 44 affiliates of India, Bangaladesh, Srilanka, Pakistan, Nepal, Quatar, Kuwait & Dubai was held through a video conference here on Thursday evening.

       INBCWF President and INTUC National Vice President Dr Rama Chandra Khuntia President over the meeting.

       The members unanimously demanded financial assistance, free transport to native places, social security and medical care for workers. They also demanded immediate employment in their respective countries and States, Besides, they sought to wave the quarantine period expenditure for international migrant labour and make to them  free transport to send all migrant labourer to their native place.

Rs 50 lakhs compensation to the bereaved families of migrant labourers who died in accident or any diseases on that way back to home.
