Private hospitals in Odisha to bear cost of treatment of healthcare professional who gets infected with Covid-19

Bhubaneswar, June 24: The Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET) has asked private hospitals to bear cost of treatment of healthcare professional who gets infected with Covid-19  in course of duty in the hospital. Health and Family Welfare Department has framed a guideline for infection prevention and control measures (IPC) in the health care facilities in the State. As per the guideline all private hospitals need to ensure that completion of training on IPC within seven days and must submit a certificate that all their staff are trained in and are following the prescribed infection prevention and control measures (IPC) required during the present COVID- 1 9 pandemic. Besides all hospitals have been asked to establish a dedicated fever clinic and reserve an isolated area for management of suspected / confirmed cases of COVID-19. This area will be managed by dedicated staff who will not be deployed in other areas of hospital. “No patient who is COVID-19 positive shall be transferred to dedicated COVID-19 hospitals unless being stabilized and transportable. Referral and transfer shall be done only with intimation to and confirmation from the referred hospitals. No public conveyance shall be allowed for transportation of COVID-19 patients. The patients shall be transported in a dedicated ambulance,” read the new guideline.
