Bhubaneswar: President Ram Nath Kovind will be on a two-day visit to the State beginning December 7 to lay foundation stone of the Paika memorial and attend the closing ceremony of the platinum jubilee celebrations of the Utkal University.
Kovind is scheduled to reach Bhubaneswar on December 7 (Saturday) evening.
According to official sources, the President will stay overnight at the Raj Bhavan here.
On Sunday, the President would visit Barunei in Khurda district where he will lay foundation stone of the Paika memorial at 10:35 am and attend closing ceremony of the platinum jubilee celebrations of Utkal University at 12:40 pm.
He will leave for New Delhi at 5:20 pm on December 8.
Meanwhile, interim Director General of Police (DGP) Satyajit Mohanty reviewed the security arrangements in view of the visit of the VVIP and said around 50 platoons of police force will be deployed during the visit of the President.
The Utkal University had started its Platinum Jubilee celebration from November 27, 2018. It had decided to hold a five-day long function from November 23 and 27 to culminate the programme. But it has decided to close the whole celebration on December 8 when President Kovind graces the occasion.
