Preparatory meeting for Khandagiri Magha Mela held

Bhubaneswar, Jan 24:A preparatory meeting for Mgha Mela 2020 preparatory was held by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today. This multi departmental coordination meeting was chaired by Director Municipal Administration cum Administrator BMC , Sangramjit Nayak. A 14 point agenda was discussed in the meeting following the welcome address by Additional Commissioner Suratha Chandra Mallick. Khandagiri Chhak to Khandagiri hill, Jayadev batika and Kharabela park area will be the main event area where adequate CCTV will be active for surveillance and to support review by police personnel. Total event days will from 1st to 16th February although Magha Mela falls between 1st to 10th February. It was requested by the Administrator to Opera Committee to play the opera within Mela days only and it will be made mandatory from coming year. There will be filling of road side wholes, under sanitation regular disposal of waste, provision of dust bin, no use of plastic and making it a plastic free event, supply of drinking water by WATCO(Public health engineering Organisation, repair of tube wells, temporary latrine facility, temporary health camp and help desk of BMC. Jatra parties have been instructed not to display nude forms. BMC authority requested the concerned committee representative to take care of the situation. Sufficient light arrangement from Khnadagiri Chhak to Khandagiri Hill and Jayadev Vatika area will also be done. “Number of stalls and size may increase this year. It was assured by the authority there will be every support by BMC like previous year. Size and price of the stall will be fixed after eviction and demarcation of land,” said a BMC official. Among other dignitaries there were City Engineer Devasundar Mohapatra, Srimanta Kumar Mishra ,Deputy Commissioner Revenue, Zonal Deputy Commissioner , North Pramod Kumar Prusty and Zonal Deputy commissioner , South west Zone Ravinarayan Jethi and City Health officer Dr. Basanta Kumar Mishra. Representatives from Police Department, water supply, jatra party organising team, Ex Corporators and other officers of BMC.
