Bhubaneswar, 5/11: The state’s Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) and principal secretary of Disaster Management has asked collectors of 15 districts to remain alert to meet any flood or water logging situation that may arise in the event of extremely very heavy rainfall. The 15 districts on alert were Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Kandhamal and Boudh. SRC PK Jena today told reporters here that the well marked low pressure area over North Andaman Sea moved west-northwestwards and concentrated into a depression. It is very likely to intensify into a deep depression during next 12 hours and into a cyclonic storm during subsequent 24 hours. “But it has not been clear as to whether it will touch Odisha coast. But the district administrations and different concerned agencies in the state have been directed to remain ready to face any eventuality”, he said. The advisory issued by the SRC said north Andhra Pradesh and south coastal Odisha are very likely to experience widespread rainfall from November 9 onwards, squally wind with speed up to 60 km per hour.
