Bhubaneswar: Director General of Police (DGP) Dr Rajendra Prasad Sharma today informed that at least 29 companies of central forces will be deployed for free, fair and peaceful elections in Maoist-infested areas in the State.
Election will be held in Maoist affected districts like Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Berhampur and Koraput in the first phase on April 11.
“In the first lot, additional 29 companies of central forces will come to Odisha. They will be deployed in Maoist affected areas where elections will be held in the first phase on April 11. More central forces will be deployed in the State as elections will be held in four phase,” said Sharma in a press conference here today.
The DGP said elaborate arrangements will be taken to ensure a free and fair election in the State. Polling will be held in four phases for 147 Assembly and 21 Lok Sabha seats on April 11, 18, 23 and 29.
