Bhubaneswar: Polling in booth no 183 under Deogarh Assembly segment under Sambalpur Parliamentary constituency was adjourned following glitches in pairing of EVMs and VVPAT machines.
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) recommended the Election Commission for re-polling in the booth. As per allegations, button pressed against one symbol was resulting in votes for another symbol triggering tension in the booth.
According to sources, the polling official wrongly attacked the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) machine with the ballot unit meant for Assembly election. As a result, voters who pressed a particular symbol were resulted in votes for another party symbol in the VVPAT machine.
Later, the district election officer reported the matter to the CEO and polling was adjourned immediately. A fresh poll will be held there as per the direction of the Election Commission of India.
