Berhampur: A poll preparedness programme for senior police officials of southern range and south-western range was held at the southern range DIG office here.
At least nine district Superintendents of Police (SPs) and around 80 senior officials of southern range and south western range attended the programme. State Assistant Chief Electoral Officer Sachin Yadav inaugurated the preparedness campaign.
Two specially trained officers Janaki Ballav Mishra and Rabi Sahu trained the police officials on various aspects for a smooth conduct of ensuing simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
IG (Law and Order) Amitabh Thakur and southern range DIG Asish Singh attended the programme.
Earlier this week, Director General of Police RP Sharma asked SPs, range Inspector General of Police (IGPs) and Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs) to conduct vulnerability mapping of booths and identify critical polling stations for the elections, dates of which are yet to be announced.
An election cell has been opened at State Police headquarters in Cuttack.
