Police encounter in Brajarajnagar; four accused injured

Jharsuguda, 6/11: Police has made a breakthrough in the Tuesday firing case at Brajarajnagar town. Four accused in the firing case were injured in the police encounter last night while trying to escape. They were all arrested by the police and admitted in the Jharsuguda district headquarter hospital for treatment.. The four arrested accused were identified as Ananta Dhal, Sailendra Patra, Nicky Singh and Rafiq Ansari. The accused persons faced the police team near Madhupur forest while they were trying to escape and they opened fire at the police. Police official Chudamani Mahananda was injured in the firing following which the police retaliated. Four accused were hurt in the police firing. They were admitted in the district headquarter hospital and were under treatment amidst tight police security. The bike and guns of the accused were lying at the spot. On Tuesday night, miscreants had fired at Sumit Ghosh alias Mantu from close range at Laxmi Café hotel in Brajarajnagar town and fled away. Mantu was admitted in the Central hospital at Mandalia. However, he was declared dead there. The firing incident has spread panic in the town. The Tuesday firing incident is said to be a fall out of a gang war. Deceased Mantu is the brother of dreaded criminal Sonu Ghosh, who has been lodged in jail in Amit Dhal murder case.
