Police DG appeals walking migrants to report at nearest police station for assistance

Bhubaneswar, May 15: Police DG Abhay today urged migrants entering Odisha on foot to report to the nearest police station which will facilitate their journey. “Odisha Police is managing the Border Check Points .On guidiance from CMO we are providing buses to migrant labourers entering Odisha on foot. We have also asked concerned district polices to facilitate their journey,” said Abhay. He said, till date 1,349 buses have passed through these checkpoints and out of them over 500 have passed through Sohela and Girisola border checkpoints. Abhay further aid that said a total number of 4,372 four-wheelers have passed through these 12 border checkpoints and the maximum 1,460 have passed through Lakshmannath checkpoint. Earlier the Odisha government has identified 12 border checkpoints through which its migrants left stranded in other states due to the nationwide lockdown can enter their native state by road.
