Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday laid foundation stone for the renovation of the Talcher Fertilisers Limited in the presence of Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Union Chemicals and Fertiliser Minister Ananth Kumar, Union Coal Minister Piyush Goyal and two other Union Ministers Jual Oram and Dharmendra Pradhan.
Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said the project would be completed within a stipulated time period. “The project is a longstanding expectation of the people. While the project has remained idle for many years, we have resolved to renovate it,” he said.
He said the plant would meet urea need of farmers in Odisha as well as the other parts of the country. This would create employment opportunities for youths of the locality. He thanked Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for providing to support for the project.
In his speck, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik thanked the Prime Minister for laying stone for the project, which has remained to be a longstanding project of the State.
Among others, Dhenkanal MP Tathagat Satpathy and MLA Braja Kishere Pradhan were present.
Earlier to the public meeting, the Prime Minister enquired about how the fertiliser plant would function based on coal-to-gas from FCI officials.
