Pipili gangrape, murder row: BJP women tie red bangles at MLAs’ gates

Bhubaneswar: Members of BJP Mahila Morcha were taken into preventive custody today after they tied ‘nali churi’ (red bangles) in front of several quarters of MLAs at the MLA Colony in Unit-4 area here protesting the State Government’s failure in ensuring justice to the Pipili gang-rape and murder victim.

The protestors also raised their concern over the recent acquittal of two accused for want of justice and blamed the Crime Branch for not conducting a proper probe into the case.

The BJP women wing has been protesting the Crime Branch’s failure in ensuring justice to the 19-year-old of Pipili areas who was raped and murdered.

The girl was found unconscious and semi- naked in a paddy field in Pipili on November 28, 2011. She succumbed on June 21, 2012 after remaining semi-comatose in SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

The First Additional Session Court of Bhubaneswar last month acquitted key accused Prashant Pradhan and his younger brother Sukant in the case for want of evidence.
