Bhubaneswar: Congress Balasore Lok Sabha candidate Nabajyoti Patnaik is the richest among candidates in fray for fourth phase elections with Rs 104 crore assets. Nabajyoti’s father and Odisha Pradesh Congress (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik is wealthiest among candidates contesting for Assembly elections with Rs 60 crore.
As per the ADR and Election Watch report, BJD’s Balasore LS candidate Rabindra Jena and BJP’s Kendrapara LS candidate Baijayant Panda stood in second and third places with assets worth Rs 72 crore and Rs 57 crore, respectively.
Niranjan Patnaik is followed by Congress candidate Chiranjeev Biswal with Rs 33 crore and BJD’s Pranab Balabantantray with Rs 17 crore.
Self-sworn affidavits of a total of 52 Lok Sabha candidates contesting the six Lok Sabha seats- Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur, have been analysed by the agencies. Similarly, self-sworn affidavits of 334 candidates have been analysed.
While 7 (13%) Lok Sbaha candidates have declared criminal cases against themselves, 72 (22%) Assembly candidates have declared criminal cases against themselves.
