Panic as high tides begin occurring at Chandrabhaga

Bhubaneswar: High tides in the Bay of Bengal at Chandrabhaga near Konark in Puri district has panicked locals since last night.

By the impact of tropical cyclone ‘Fani’, high tides are occurring at Chandrabhaga for which all shops on the sea beach have remained closed now.

It may be mentioned that the India Meteorological Department has predicted that  ‘Fani’ may make landfall near Krushnaprasad in Puri district on May 3 afternoon. Tides of one and-a-half metre high are expected to occur  in the sea during the storm.
