Cuttack: The Orissa High Court will resume work from May 13.
The court was closed in the wake of cyclone Fani that wreaked havoc in the city damaging the power and water supply and badly affecting the telecommunication and internet services since May 3.
Though the court was scheduled to open on May 10 earlier, but it will now open on May 13 as May 11 and 12 are the holidays.
Notably, the HC premises along with the district court and Bar Association campus were completely devastated due to the cyclone. Keeping this in view, various bar associations had demanded closure of the HC till normalcy returns to the city.
With nearly 200 kmph wind storms and incessant rains bringing down trees, power and communications lines and thatched houses, cyclone Fani barrelled through the eastern coast in Odisha’s Puri district on May 3 leaving at least 41 people dead in different coastal district and also paralysing normal life in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
