OPGC Unit II stops operation due to lack of coal

Bhubaneswar: The second unit of the Odisha Power Generation Corporation (OPGC), a joint venture of the AES, America and the Odisha Government, has stopped operation since this morning due to lack of coal.

According to reports, the OPGC authorities decided to halt the Unit II due to inadequate supply of coal. The Unit II has the capacity of generating 210 MW power.

It may be noted the OPGC located at Banharpali in Jharsuguda district has two thermal power units of 210 Mega Watt-capacity each now. Two more units of 620 MW each are under construction now.
