Onion price starts falling, tuber stock arrives from Nasik and Bengaluru

Bhubaneswar, 13/12: The onion price which has sky rocketed over the years, has started climbing down gradually. The whole sale price of the tuber has reached at Bhubaneswar and various parts of the state at Rs 55 to Rs 60 per kg. The onion price had soared up to over Rs 150 a kg following devastating flood in Nasik of Maharashtra state. The price has now started falling after the onion stock arrived in the Odisha market from Nasik and Bengaluru. {"id":21883,"sizeSlug":"large"} Presently, around 2000 tonnes of onion is being procured by Odisha from Nasik and Bengaluru daily on an average as against its daily demand of 3500 tonnes. Onion crop will be harvested in the state's Kantabanji, Anugul and Boudh within 15 to 20 days, at best in the first week of January. Thereafter, the onion price will come down to Rs 15 - Rs 20 per kg, said the vegetable traders of Bhubaneswar.
