One of conjoined twins who were separated at Delhi AIIMS dies

Cuttack, Nov 25: One of the conjoined twins from Odisha's Kandhamal district, Kalia died today at the SCB Medical College in Cuttack during treatment. Jaga and Kalia, the conjoined twins who were separated after surgery in 2017, at AIIMS, New Delhi had earlier arrived in Odisha last year after spending more than two years in Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). They were being treated kept at SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack. Doctors. however, said that the health condition of Jaga is stable. The craniopagus twins were joined at head and were separated after a marathon of complicated surgeries in 2017. Notably, the craniopagus conjoined twins hailing from Milipada village in Kandhamal district were separated by a team of doctors at the AIIMS New Delhi after a marathon 21-hour surgery in October 2017. Additional Chief Secretary of Health department PK Mohapatra termed demise of Kalia. " Despite all efforts, he could not be saved. After completion of all formalities, the family will be handed over his body," he said.
