Bhubaneswar: The State’s third airport will come up at the steel city of Rourkela in Sundargarh district soon.
The Union Ministry of Civil Aviation has given green signal for the purpose with the Director General of Civil Aviation giving licence to run flights from the proposed airport. According to decision, construction work would begin soon and flights will operate to Bhubaneswar and other cities of the country.
The airport would come up at the steel city under the UDAN Yojana of the Union Government, according to reports. The Rourkela airport would be third one in the State as two airports, one at Bhubaneswar and another at Jharusuguda, are already in operation.
