Odisha: Vehicles engaged with state govt can get fitness certificate from any RTO

Bhubaneswar, July 14: Vehicles owned by state government, state undertaking and Urban Local Bodies can be granted fitness certificate in any RTO of the state, informed the State Transport Authority (STA). A notification in this regard was today published by the STA. Earlier government vehicles can get fitness certificate only in the RTO in which the vehicle was registered. “It has been brought to the notice that different government departments / offices are facing difficulties in getting fitness certificate from different Regional Transport Offices other than the original registering authority. After registration of a vehicle in a particular Regional Transport Office, it is being shifted to operate in different parts of the state considering administrative requirement. Under such circumstances, vehicle owned by State Government / State Government Undertaking / Urban Local Bodies may operate within the jurisdiction of any registering authority other than the original registering authority,” said an official.
