Odisha: Truck driver rescued from pond after 10 hour operation

Bhadrak, Jan 24: A truck driver had a miraculous escape after he was rescued from neck deep water in a rescue operation which lasted for around 10 hours. The incident has taken place in Bhandaripokhari area in Bhadrak district when a truck fell into a pond after hitting two stationary trucks in the area. {"align":"center","id":24960,"sizeSlug":"large"} The driver of the ill fated truck identified as Mathuri Barik remained trapped inside the truck cabin with water flowing up to his neck level. Fire personnel rushed to the spot and started a rescue operation to save trapped Barik. However, fire personnel found it difficult as the leg of Barik remained trapped between the brakes of the truck. {"align":"center","id":24961,"sizeSlug":"large"} Two fire personnel held Barik from his neck and six pumps were deployed to dry the pond water. Barik was finally rescued from the pond after a marathon operation of 10 hours. Barik is currently undergoing treatment at Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital.
