Odisha to send 500 ODRAF, fire personnel to Cyclone Amphan-hit Bengal for restoration work

Bhubaneswar, May 23: The Odisha government will send 500 personnel of Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force and Odisha Fire Service for assisting in road clearance, tree cutting and restoration work in Cyclone Amphan-hit West Bengal.

Notably, cyclone Amphan that crossed through the West Bengal and Odisha coast on Wednesday caused minimum damage to the coastal areas of Odisha while it wreaked havoc in the neigbouring state claiming lives of 86.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday announced interim central assistance of Rs 1,000 crore to West Bengal and Rs 500 crore to Odisha after an aerial survey of the devastation wrought by cyclone Amphan, especially in south Bengal.
