Odisha temple performs Rath Yatra with chariot made from sand

Bhubaneswar, June 23: The Jagannath temple in Vanivihar, Utkal University today performed the rituals of chariot festival with a Bali Rath (chariot made from sand). The decision to conduct the festival on chariot made from sand was taken after the Supreme Court has not allowed the festival in temples other than Puri. {"align":"center","id":51637,"sizeSlug":"large"} The deities were placed on the sand chariot to perform the rituals associated with the annual festival. “We decided to create the sand chariot after the Supreme Court did not allow the festival in any other temples. The festival was observed by strictly maintaining social distancing,” said a member of the temple.
