Odisha spends Rs 206 crore for tourism promotion in 4 years

Bhubaneswar, Feb 20: As many as Rs 206.5 crore has been spent on the promotion of the state tourism in last four year, said tourism minister Jyoti Praksh Panigrahi in the Assembly on Thursday. The State government has spent Rs 69 crore in 2019-20, Rs 53 crore in 2018-19, Rs 53 crore in 2017-18 and Rs 31.5 crore in 2016-2017, said Panigrahi responding to a question asked by Congress MLA Sura Routray. For development of the tourism sectors, the state government has sanctioned Rs 364.73 crore from 2016 to 2019. The fund has been spent on the advertisements of Odisha tourism at various magazines, electronic media, social media platforms and airports across the country and the abroad. Moreover, the amount has also been spent on the promotion of several tourism festivals, including Konarak festival, Rajarani fest and Mukteswar Festival.   The state govt is also initiating many steps in the infrastructural development of various tourism sites, the minister said in the Assembly.
