Cuttack, Jan 30: Odisha secured its fifth win in the ongoing Ranji trophy after it beat Assam by an innings and three runs at Driemd Ground in the city. The win has put Odisha again at the top of points table in Elite Group C with 35 points.
Assam who was asked to follow-on after the visiting team was bundled out 238 runs in the first innings in reply to Odisha’s mammoth total of 436, collapsed from 124 for no loss to 195 all out in the second innings.
For Odisha, Debabrata Pradhan completed a fine all-round performance by scoring 79 runs and taking seven wickets in both the innings. He was adjudged as the Man of the Match for his splendid performance.
With the outright win Odisha are now the favourites to qualify the last eight stage from Elite Group C. Odisha will play its remaining two matches against Maharashtra and Jharkhand on February 4 and 12 respectively.
