Bargarh, Aug 6: A sarpanch in Odisha’s Bargarh district showed his humane side by performing the last rites of youth at Talpali village under Gaisilet block.
According to reports, the deceased, identified as Nabe Mirdha (20) had been suffering from cough and fever for the last few days for a long time. On Wednesday afternoon his family members rushed him to Padmapur Sub-divisional hospital as his condition worsened.
However, doctors at the hospital declared him dead.
Later, his body was brought to his native village for the last rites, but the last rite was delayed as the local residents also refused to help fearing the infection of COVID-19.
On being informed about the incident, local sarpanch Sushant Kumar Sahoo rushed to the village and performed the last rites with his associates.
