Odisha man kills elderly woman; walks into police station with her severed head

Jajpur, July 15: A man allegedly hacked an elderly woman with axe on suspicion of practising sorcery in Chhatara village of Olala panchayat in Jajpur district on Wednesday evening. The man identified as Kartika Kerei later surrendered at Danagadi outpost with severed head and the axe. The deceased has been identified as Nandini Purti. As per reports, the accused had nurtured a grudge against the elderly woman suspecting her of practising sorcery. The accused had a heated argument with the deceased on Wednesday evening and later hacked her to death with an axe. Police said that they are further interrogating the accused to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident. “ We have seized the body and have started an investigation into the incident,” said a police official.
