Odisha man goes to Gujarat to bring son’s body, faces police atrocities

Bhubaneswar: In a distressing incident, a man from Odisha faced police atrocities at Ahmadabad in Gujarat to where he had gone to bring back the body of his son, who died in mysterious conditions in the premises of a company where he was working. 

According to reports, an Odia youth, Harishankar Jena, from Kakatpur area in Puri district was working in a company in the Industrial Estate area of Ahmadabad. However, he was found dead in mysterious conditions in the company premises on Saturday night. Being informed about the incident, Harishankar’s father Gayadhar along with his nephew went to bring back the body.

However, the Ahmadabad police reportedly tortured him a lot. The police didn’t accept his FIR which was written in English. They forced him to sign an FIR written in Gujarati by some other person.

When Gayadhar and his nephew protested, police beat them severely throughout the night.

Gayadhar narrated his plights to the News7 channel over phone. He alleged that he was not allowed to see the body of his son. “The police have taken money from the company and are trying to protect the culprits,” said Gayadhar.
