Bhubaneswar: Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Bishnupada Sethi today said that Odisha has incurred a loss of Rs 2765 crore due to cyclone Titli and subsequent flood situation.
He said more than 60 lakh people in 8,125 villages under 128 blocks of 17 districts have been affected while nearly 2.6 lakh hectare crops have been damaged while around 56,930 houses have been destroyed due to the calamity.
At least 34,951 domestic animals have been killed, he daded.
However, Sethi said the loss could be more as the Government is yet to receive the final damage assessment report.
Earlier on Wednesday Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi informed that the State government will try to compensate the losses from State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and in case of shortage of funds, it will report to the Centre for necessary assistance.
Meanwhile, Odisha government increased the ex-gratia amount from Rs 4 lakh to Rs 10 lakh each for the kin of the deceased who were killed in the calamity with the death toll mounting to 57.
