Odisha govt to provide cooked food to homeless and destitute free of cost in view of Covid-19 lockdown

Bhubaneswar, March 27: The State government has asked collectors to arrange hot cooked meal/dry food/packaged food for the destitute, homeless, beggars and people without food during both day and night free of cost. The Housing and Urban Development Department has written letters to the concerned collectors to arrange free cooked food.”The urban homeless are facing endless problem for survival and get their food. It is imperative on the part of the Government to look after the people in distress and provide them necessary assistance as and when required. Taking into consideration the scenario in the urban space, it has been decided to provide hot cooked meal/ dry food / packaged food to the urban homeless during both day and night time free of cost,” read the letter. Officials said that the funds required for this purpose will be met out of the Red Cross Fund available in concerned districts.
