Bhubaneswar: The State Government today decided to celebrate 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi for two years starting October 2, 2018.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik chaired a state-level meeting at the State Secretariat to fine tune the preparations to celebrate 150th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation.
Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Narasingha Mishra, Culture Minister Ashok Panda and Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi attended the meeting.
Four sub-committees will be formed for the State-wide celebrations to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
Padayatras and memorial meets will be held across the state during the period, said Culture Minister Ashok Panda after the meeting.
A special session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly will be convened in 2019 in this regard.
