Odisha govt to bear the medical expenses of daughter of Ganjam woman who donated kidneys to save two lives

Bhubaneswar, Feb 5: Odisha government has decided to bear the medical expenses of daughter of  Priyankarani Patra who saved the lives of two persons by donating her kidneys. Patra, a resident of Digapahandi area in Ganjam district was declared brain dead on Monday night after she met with a road accident. Her daughter also sustained serious injuries in the mishap and is currently undergoing treatment. The victim’s family members have urged to donate her organs after her death. Subsequently her kidneys were harvested and later transplanted to save two lives.  Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has appreciated the family members of the deceased for donating organs of Patra for a noble cause.
