Odisha govt sets up virtual police station for online registration of vehicle theft

Bhubaneswar, Jan 28: In a first, the state government has set up a virtual police station, or e-police station, in Bhubaneswar to facilitate lodging of e-FIR in cases of motorcycle thefts. The virtual police station having all-Odisha jurisdiction will function from the State Crime Records Bureau in Bhubaneswar. "The government will establish the virtual police station or e-police station at the state crime records bureau (SCRB), Bhubaneswar. The virtual police station will facilitate lodging of e-FIRs in cases of theft of motor vehicles. The e-police station will start functioning with immediate effect," read a notification issued by the state home department on Monday. Police said that creation of the virtual police station is a part of state government's 5T (transparency, teamwork, technology, timeframe and transformation) move.
