Odisha government declares holiday for the solar eclipse

Bhubaneswar, 24/12: The state government today declared December 26 as holiday as partial solar eclipse is scheduled to be held on that day. The year's last solar eclipse will be visible in India. It will be partially visible in Odisha. The Odia almanacs have advised the people to quit cooking twelve hours before the beginning of the solar eclipse. Hence, the cooking and taking dinner will be over by 8.19 pm on December 25 and cooking is prohibited till 11.29 am the next day. Thereafter, worship and temple rituals  are allowed after taking bath. However, young children and elderly people are exempted from the prohibition on taking food during solar eclipse.
