Odisha girl wins gold in cycling at Khelo India Youth Games

Bhubaneswar, Jan 14: Swasti Singh from Odisha, won the Gold Medal in the U21 Girls Scratch Race held this morning at the Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education (LNIPE), Guwahati, in the third edition of the Khelo India Youth Games 2020. The total distance to be covered by participating cyclists in a scratch race is 7.5kms. Swasti finished with a timing of 14:53.232s; while the Silver medallist Keerthi Rangaswamy C finished with +0.246s; and Bronze medallist Chayanika Gogoi finished with +0.452s. Swasti is being looked upon as a huge cycling talent in Odisha and was spotted by Rourkela Steel Plant’s sports wing in 2015. She had also won the Bronze medal for India in the Track Asia Cup Cycling Championship held at New Delhi in 2019.
