Odisha Fire Service to review fire safety measures of Covid hospitals

Bhubaneswar, Aug 6: In the wake of death of 8 persons in a Covid-19 hospital in Ahmedabad, DG Fire Services have directed to review the fire safety measures of Covid hospitals and Covid Care Centres in Odisha. Five men and three women undergoing treatment for Covid-19 infection have died after a major fire broke out at the hospital in Ahmedabad today. DG Fire Services, Satyajit Mohanty has asked assistant fire officers and deputy fire officers to visit the Covid hospitals and Covid Care Centres under their respective jurisdictions and review the fire safety measures and deficiencies. He has also asked to advise the authorities on taking proper measures. The concerned officers have been instructed to conduct the fire safety audit and submit their recommendation within 24 hours. More than 150 Covid Care Hospitals and Covid Care Centres are functioning in the state and being disinfected by the Fire Service personnel on regular basis using fire service appliances.
