Odisha: Family alleges custodial death in Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal, Jan 19: Family members of a 40-year-old man have alleged that he has been killed by cops in custody at Nihal Prasad police station in the district. As per reports, police have brought Madhu Samal, a resident of Raigada in connection with a case of domestic violence on Saturday. Police said that they had to rush Samal to the nearest hospital after he complained of uneasiness. Police said that though they have intimated the matter to the family members of Samal, they did not turn up at the hospital. Samal died while undergoing treatment at the hospital on Saturday. On the other hand, his family members alleged that he was killed by the police in custody. “The police also conducted his post-mortem hurriedly at the Dhenkanal District Headquarters Hospital. We demand a detailed probe in the incident,” said a family member of Samal.
