Odisha doctor misses father's last rites due to duty for Covid-19

Malkangiri, April 11: In a heart-wrenching story, Malkangiri’s Disease Control Assistant Divisional Medical Officer (ADMO) Sashibhusan Mahapatra could not complete his father’s last rites for his duty Mahapatra received the news of demise of his 91-year-old sick father on the morning of April 8. Despite being the eldest son of his family his duty prevented him from visiting his native in Chandikhol in Jajpur district. His younger brother with help from neighbours and police personnel completed the rituals. Similarly in March IAS officer and the principal secretary of Health and Family Welfare, Nikunja Bihari Dhal had joined his duty a day after his father’s death to deal with the coronavirus situation in Odisha.
