Kalimela, Jan 21: In yet another incident of humanity, a doctor carried a tribal woman for over 10 km to the nearest Community Health Centre (CHC) in Malkangiri district.
Doctor Radheshyam Jena was informed about labour pain of a woman when he was conducting a pulse polio immunization drive at Kadhidulagunti village under Kalimela block on January 19 along with his five member team.
The team immediately rushed to the woman’s house and conducted the delivery.
However, the condition of the woman deteriorated post child birth.
Her condition was critically unstable and she had to be taken immediately to hospital.
The doctor and his team found no other option and dared to trek through the forest carrying the woman on a stretcher.
The woman was admitted in Kalimela CHC for treatment.
Health condition of both the mother and child are stated to be stable.
