Odisha CM congratulates nine child labourers-turned- students for clearing Matric exam

Bhubaneswar, Aug 4:  Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik congratulated 9 boys from Mayurbhanj who were erstwhile rescued as child labour by District Administration for their success in High School Certificate Examination. Saying their sincerity and commitment as the source of inspiration for others, the CM wished their bright future. The result of matric exam was announced on July 29. A total of 534883 students have appeared the matriculation examination in 2020 and out of which 421256 students had passed. The child labourers-turned students who shined in the exam are Ajay Kumar Patra, Jitendra Kumar Nayak, Hemant Kumar Murmu, Pandu Singh, Guja Murmu, Deepu Mahakud, Kartik Mahakud, Durga Marandi and Rajesh Patra of Bisoi. Most of them used to work at roadside eateries and garages when the then collector Rajesh Prabhakar Patil rescued them and got them enrolled at Bisoi Nodal High School under 'Mu Bi Padhibi' scheme.
