Bhubaneswar: Odisha DG in-charge and Crime Branch ADG Santosh Upadhaya today said that the CID and Chhattisgarh police have already begun probe into the threat letter sent to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik by a notorious criminal in Chhattisgarh.
The threat letter has come from a criminal presently lodged in a jail in Chhattisgarh. The criminal has already been booked in more than 40 cases. We are in touch with the Chhattisgarh DGP,” said Upadhaya.
The criminal is now lodged at Central Jail, Bilaspur had shot off a letter to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s office seeking a ransom of Rs 50 crore and threatened to eliminate Patnaik and his top bureaucrats if the ransom was not paid.
Sources said the criminal identified as Pushpendra Chouhan has been booked in 42 cases of dacoity and murder. He is serving life imprisonment after conviction in two cases, the sources said.
In fact, the criminal has had a history of writing such letters.
