Bhubaneswar, Oct 17: All political parties have geared up political campaign for the forthcoming Tirtol and Balasore Sadar assembly constituencies, which will go to poll on November 3. As the assembly poll campaign picks up in the state, MLA candidates are pitching in for more rallies in the two assembly constituencies.
After a landslide victory in general elections 2019, the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) is now eyeing to acquire the seats. The party supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will be campaigning for party candidates in virtual mode due to Covid-19 pandemic. Virtual meetings at the village level are going to help political parties like the ruling BJD and BJP which have more resources at their command.
On Oct 12, the BJD announced candidates for two by-elections. BJD president nominated Swarup Kumar Das for 38-Balasore Assembly Constituency and Bijaya Shankar Das for 102-Tirtol (SC) Assembly Constituency. The candidates have also filed their nomination papers.
On the other hand, the Odisha government today relaxed Covid-19 regulation for by-polls in Tirol and Balasore Sadar assembly constituencies. The by-poll at both the assembly segments will be held on November 3. As per an order of the Special Relief Commissioner, political meetings and other functions/ gatherings in connection with the polls will be allowed within the jurisdiction of both the Assembly constituencies with certain conditions.
